Fremont Street
Stockton CA 95203
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed Ground-Water Monitoring Well Installation and Quarterly
Ground-Water Monitoring Report dated November 30,. 1999 prepared by JJW. For the
last two quarters, analytical results of the groundwater samples from all 5 monitoring
wells were not-detect at a detection limit of 5 parts per billion of Methyl tert-Butyl
Ether (MTBE) using EPA Method 8260. The report stated that after the next sampling
event, a final quarterly report will be issued which will include the evaluation of the
effectiveness of the ORC treatment including a mass balance calculation.
In a letter dated December 1, 1999, PHS/EHD recommended that analyses for MTBE
and other oxygenates no longer be performed.
PHS/EHD recommends that the mass balance calculation of the contamination in
both soil and groundwater immediately before the placement of ORC and following
the placement of ORC be provided in the final report in order to evaluate the
effectiveness of the treatment. The site map in the report does not show the location
of the former underground storage tank (UST) system (tank, piping, dispenser). Please
show the location of the UST system on the site map in future reports..
If you.have any questions, feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Healttb Division
Jeffrey Wong, REHS Margaret agorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region - Marty Hartzell
c: JJW Geosciences, Inc. - Toni Mayen
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
