i <br /> Given the shallow proposed screened interval (5 feet), groundwater can be ' <br /> collected from this well near the upper surface of the water table. Therefore, <br /> future groundwater sampling of this well will likely provide a more representative <br /> assessment of the actual contaminant concentrations near the surface of the <br /> a water table. <br /> Additionally, the location and construction of the extraction well will allow it to be <br />{ used for both the soil vapor extraction and groundwater pumping pilot tests. <br /> Further, the well will also be adequately sited to allow it :to be used as a <br /> remediation well, if necessary, <br /> 4. Perform a 4-hour soil vapor extraction pilot test- The soil vapo extraction <br /> pilot #est;would determine the suitability of the site to remedlation via s !-vapor— <br /> . - <br /> The newly-installed extraction well would be used as the soil vapor extraction <br /> Point. Air flow rate readings would be monitored at the extraction well <br /> Temporary sample points would be driven into the ground to be used to monitor <br /> vacuum readings at various distances from the extraction well, <br /> Extracted air would be routed through an activated carbon canister to remove <br /> contaminants prior to discharge to the atmosphere. Air samples would be <br /> collected and analyzed both before and after the carbon canister to determine <br /> extraction and destruction efficiencies. <br /> 5_ Perform a 4-hour groundwater pumping test. The groundwater pumping test <br /> would determine the suitability of the site to remediation via groundwater and/or <br /> ` free product extraction. <br /> The newly-installed extraction well would be used as the groundwater extraction <br /> point. Flow rate readings would be monitored at the extraction well. Existing <br /> groundwater monitoring wells would be used-to monitor water table drawdown at <br /> various distances from the extraction well. <br /> f ' <br /> Extracted groundwater would be passed through an activated carbon canister <br /> and the water disposed to either the sanitary sewer or storm drain. Water <br /> samples would be collected and analyzed both before and after the carbon <br /> canister to determine extraction and destruction efficiencies. Permits for the <br /> temporary discharge may be needed. A permit fee, if required, has not been <br /> included its the accompanying bid cost. If necessary, you can pay this fee <br /> directly, and have the Cleanup Fund reimburse you directly. <br /> During the groundwater pumping test, the water table will be drawn down, <br /> resulting in a localized cone of depression, Should contaminant concentrations <br /> exist above their solubility limits, then free product will likely be present. If this is <br /> the Case, the free product will accumulate within the cone of depression during <br /> the test. Observations will be conducted to determine if the depressed water <br /> table yields free product. <br /> I <br />
