October 11,2005
NOA Project Number: E05111B
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 in the appendix
of this report.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One shallow percolation test was conducted on each parcel, and one deep percolation test on six
parcels, for a total of 27 shallow and six deep percolation tests on the subject property.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
A total of six deep soil borings were advanced on the Site with a truck-mounted deep rock augur rig,
and a total of 27 shallow soil borings were advanced on the Site with a hand augur from August 25
to September 2,2005.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of /
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" were placed in the ((?7)
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea Gravel" l
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred 24 hours before each percolation test. The
depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, all presaturated holes were found to be intact and dry except for the
shallow hole on parcel 23 on September 14, 2005 which had approximately five inches of water
remaining.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
Percolation tests were conducted for the shallow borings on parcels: 22 and 25 on September 1,
2005,parcels: 1, 15 and 16 on September 2,2005,parcels: 8, 9 and 11 on September 6,2005,parcels:
3, 5, 12 and 19 on September 7, 2005,parcels: 6, 7, 10 and 20 on September 8,2005,parcels: 24, 26
and 27 on September 9,2005,parcels: 2, 4, 13, 14, 17, 18 and 21 on September 12,2005,and /
parcels: 22 and 23 on September 14,2005. Percolation tests were conducted for the deep borings on (
parcels: 8 and 9 on September 6,2005,parcel: 12 on September 7,2005,parcel: 4 on September 12,
2005,and parcels: 22 and 23 on September 14, 2005 in accordance with the requirements of the
EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each hole. The last half
an hour for all of the percolation tests were observed by an environmental health inspector from the
8 .,04
