Box 2009
Stockton, CA .95201
Subject: Underground Storage Tank Excavation and Soil Sampling Report for PG & E
tt Stockton Service Center, 4040 West Lane, Stockton, California
s
Dear Mr. Knoll:
t
The attached report describes the soil sampling and laboratory results for samples collected
during excavation of the former transformer oil storage tank and associated former product line
locations at the above referenced site. Excavation, which was conducted in several phases,
occurred on January 12, January 27 and March 10 and samples were collected on January 12,
January 27, February 10, and March.10, 1993 (tank. removal was conducted on January 16,
1987). The 10,000 gallon capacity tank contained transformer oil prior to removal.
Phase I Sampling - January 12, 1993 .
The confirmation soil samples collected subsequent to initial excavation activities were analyzed
for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,- and xylenes (BTEX), total.petroleum. hydrocarbons as
gasoline(TPHG), total petroleum hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPHD) with a fuel fingerprint, total
oil and.grease (TOG), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs),by.EPA methods 8020,,modified
8015, 5520 E & F and 8080. A.total of four former tank area sidewall samples andtwoproduct
line samples were collected when excavation was deemed complete. Analytical data indicated
incomplete removal of the petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the product line and sump
areas and on the northern side of the former tank excavation, therefore additional excavation was
scheduled for January 27, 1993.
i
RMRTSMR-0393.FNL
a r
f
