PG&E is planning on removing two in-ground hydraulic lifts at the
Site's Building 4 Garage (Figure 2) and replacing them with two above ground electric lifts. The two lifts, the
two hydraulic oil underground storage tanks, and the associated piping will be removed as part of the
replacement. This soil investigation is being performed to evaluate the soils which will be encountered and
possibly excavated during the lift removal and determine if a release of hydraulic oil has occurred. The scope
of work is based upon discussions between Stantec and PG&E.
Scope of Work
The soil investigation will include the advancement of seven direct-push soil borings for the purpose of
characterizing shallow soils. Soil will be logged and samples will be collected and submitted for laboratory
analysis of TPH as hydraulic oil (TPHho). The seven boring locations are proposed in the vicinity of the in-
ground hoists. The proposed scope of work will include the following tasks:
Task 1—Preliminary Field Activities;
Task 2—Direct-Push Soil Borings; and
Task 3—Reporting.
The following describes each of the tasks in detail.
Task 1—Preliminary Field Activities
Stantec will conduct the following preliminary field activities:
❑ Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP): A site-specific HASP will be prepared prior to commencement
of any field work. The HASP will address potential hazards associated with the proposed scope of
work and emergency procedures and contact information. The HASP will be review by reviewed by
the field staff and contractors before beginning field operations and will available at all times on-site.
❑ Permitting: A drilling permit will be obtained from San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department for the seven proposed soil borings.
