Pacific Gas&Electric Co. <br /> ' Page 1 - <br /> , <br /> it - <br /> 10 INTRODUCTION <br /> Pursuant to your request,Dames&,Moore has-prepared a proposal workplan:for a Problem Assessment Report study for <br /> r. the Pacific:Gas&Electric(PG&E)Stockton Service Center property.The.problem assessment report study is <br /> understood'to have,been requested by PG&E subsequent--to underground storage tan_k removals at the subject property. <br /> i Chemical analyses conducted on-soil samples.obtained at the time of the tank�removals reported low levels of <br /> U = . <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline in native soils within.the excavation,and higher4evels in <br /> overburden soil excavated from atop and around`the removed tanks: <br /> This workplan addresses two options for evaluating residual hydrocarbons at the tank removal'site. The initial <br /> phase involves over-excavation of soils'within the bottom of the tank removal pit and,conducting confirmation <br /> sampling and chemical analyses of native soils below In the eventsamplesobtained from the limits of the over-- <br /> excavation process report the detectable:levels of hydrocarbons,then drilling and subsoil sampling will proceed as <br /> lJ a second phase of work. The following proposal summarizes the details of our workplan.- <br /> 2.0 PROJECT HISTORY <br /> Detailed information regarding.the.subject property has notbeen made available to our office as of this proposal <br /> date.The project site is currentlydeveloped as the PG&E Stockton Service Center"facility.A portion of the <br /> a <br /> subject property is developed with an 80 feet.wde by 140-feet long garage structure.At the southem end of the <br /> garage structure were situated three.underground storage tanks and a dispenser island. <br /> On or about October 16,1991,-three underground gasoline storage tanks were excavated and removed from the site. <br /> The tanks were described as one 12,000 gallon and two 5,000 gallon capacity.Soil samples were obtained from.beneath <br /> the removedstorage tanks for,chemical analyses in accordance with the guidelines of the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department.
