The excavated soil was temporarily
L: stored on site and placed on and covered with visqueen. Figixre 2 shows the locations of the
excavations and the soil stockpile. Approximately 3 cubic yards of soil was removed from
beneath the northern gasoline dispenser and approximately 22 cubic yards of soil was removed
i
from beneath the southern diesel dispenser. A representative of the San Joaquin County Public
+ Health Services,Environmental Health Division observed the soil removal. The locations of
the confirmation samples are shown on Figure 2.
The soil samples were collected using a 2-inch-diameter hana auger and hand-operated
percussion sampling equipment. The percussion sampler was equipped with stainless steel
' sample tubes. The sample tube was sealed with Teflon®tape
and plastic end caps and labeled
with project number, sample designation, and sampling date.!The samples were placed in a
cooled ice chest and logged on chain-of-custody documentation. The sampling equipment was
decontaminated between sample locations to prevent cross contamination of samples.
a The soil samples were submitted to a state-certified analytical laboratory (Chromalab, Inc.,
Pleasanton, California) for analyses of TPHG and TPHD using USEPA Modified Method 8015; p
BTEX using USEPA Method 8020; MTBE using USEPA Method 8260A; PCBs by USEPA
Method 8082; Oil and Grease using USEPA Method 1664; and total lead using USEPA
r Method 6010B.
a
SacDP-\VACRFPACOMMOMsacDIV O011PR"JU21924.1 aa.doc
4/11/01
f
