r %MOO, %FW
1.0 Introduction
IT Corporation has prepared this work plan on behalf of Pacific Gas and Electric Company
(PG&E)to address excavation and sampling of soil in which total petroleum hydrocarbons
r (TPH) were detected during upgrading of product delivery lines and dispensers at the PG&E
Service Center, 4040 West Lane, Stockton, California. The purpose of this work plan is
document the procedures that will be used to delineate, excavate and dispose of TPH affected
soils.
PG&E is in the process of upgrading product delivery lines and dispensers on the site. Piping
was removed under a closure plan approved by San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division. Under the closure plan, one soil sample was collected every
20 linear feet beneath the former product lines, one soil sample was collected beneath each of the
former dispensers and two composite samples were collected from stockpiled soils from the
piping excavations (Figure 1). The soil samples were submitted to a state-certified analytical
laboratory(Twinning Laboratory)for analyses of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and
diesel (TPHG and TPHD, respectively)using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)
Modified Methods 8015; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) using
USEPA Method 8020; methyl tert butyl ether(MTBE) using USEPA Method 8260;
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)by USEPA Method 8082; Oil and Grease; and total lead using
USEPA Method 7420. The preliminary sample results are provided in Table 1.
Table 'I
Preliminary Sample Results
PG&E Stockton Service Center
4040 West Lane, Stockton, California
V
Sample ID Results in Milligrams per Kilogram(mg/kg)
and Depth
(feet) Benzene Toluene Ethyl- Xylenes MTBE TPH-G TPH-D TRPH PCB Lead
Benzene
DS1-3 ND ND ND ND ND ND ND ND ND 25
V
DS2-3 ND 0.017 0.031 0.18 ND 1.4 67 310 ND 27
DS3-3 ND ND 0.041 0.16 ND 450 7,000 2,200 ND 10
SS1-4 ND ND ND ND ND ND ND ND ND 5.7
SacDP-IVSICRFPIVCOMMOMConst ifingWalalSk-edlP-ject.;P17V7780D7.ds.doc 1-1
12111100
