• Field personnel will observe each other for signs of toxic exposure. Indications of <br /> adverse effects include, but are not limited to: changes in complexion and skin <br /> discoloration, changes in coordination, changes in demeanor, excessive salivation <br /> and papillary response, and changes in speech pattern. <br /> • Field personnel will be cautioned to inform each other of nonvisual effects of <br /> toxic exposure such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, cramps, and <br /> irritation of eyes, skin, or respiratory tract. <br /> Prompt remedial action will be taken whenever an inadvertent release of a <br /> hazardous material occurs. <br /> • Appropriate action to provide secure footing will be taken at all locations where <br /> '-• personnel will be working. <br /> 6.2 Work Zones <br /> An exclusion zone shall be established around the immediate work area, and shall be clearly <br /> marked by traffic cones, barricades and/or high visibility barrier tape. The exclusion zone shall <br /> mark the area where direct handling operations are occurring and where field personnel may be <br /> exposed to physical hazards. The size and shape of the exclusion zone shall be based on known <br /> L and anticipated hazards,type of operation being performed,physical and topographical features, <br /> potential for site emergencies affecting surrounding areas, etc. Prior to the beginning of each <br /> day's operations, the Site Safety Officer shall observe site conditions and determine the location <br /> and boundaries of the exclusion zone. Site control requirements shall be reviewed during daily <br /> Tailgate Safety Meetings. Entry into the exclusion zone shall be regulated by the SSHO and the <br /> Field Supervisor. No person shall enter an exclusion zone if they are not wearing the required <br /> protective clothing and equipment. Only authorized personnel shall be allowed to enter the <br /> exclusion zone. <br /> 6.3 Security Measures <br /> Site security is provided in order to restrict unauthorized access to the Site. The Site is secured <br /> by fencing. Site visitors and vendors are required to check in at the Site. Nonessential personnel <br /> W <br /> or visitors will be restricted to off-site locations unless accompanied by site personnel. <br /> 6.4 Tailgate Safety Meetings <br /> The SSHO shall conduct a Tailgate Safety Meeting with all field personnel, including <br /> subcontractor personnel, at the beginning of every shift. A copy of each day's Tailgate Safety <br /> Meeting form shall be maintained at the immediate work site and shall be available for field <br /> personnel and site visitor review.
