4C. SECURITY
This section describes the basic security controls and procedures in place at the
facility.
The service center is surrounded by a 6 -foot -high, chain-link fence topped with
barbed wire. The yard perimeter and interior are fully illuminated at dusk by
automatic lights. There are three gates located around the yard's perimeter. Gate #3
remains open from 6:40 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.and Gate #1 remains open from 7:00 a.m.
to 9:00 a. m., Monday through Friday. Gate #2 remains locked except when in use.
All gates are locked after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and all weekends and holidays. All
buildings are locked when not in use. The main buildings are protected by silent
intrusion alarm systems that are monitored by an alarm company (Sonitrol) who
summon assistance when required.
The fence perimeter is checked for unauthorized entry by a contracted person
working for the Building Department every morning. Inspections include checking the
integrity of the fence and gates (bent or cut wires, holes under fence, etc.).
In cases of weekend or after-hours, employees entering or leaving the facility
buildings re -lock all gates and doors. All employees are instructed to watch for
strangers at the facility and question them regarding any unusual activity.
Tire fuel dispensing pumps are locked unless activated by an electronic key system.
FG&E's Security Manual details standard PG&E security measures and is issued to
each facility supervisor.
4-12
