ON-SITE FIRE - HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES NOT INVOLVED <br />Upon discovery of fire, SOUND FIRE ALARM. <br />CALL LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT or 911. <br />Try to identify the source of the fire. If hazardous substances are <br />involved, STOP HERE and refer to Response Procedure 5B for instructions. <br />If hazardous substances are not involved, try to put out the fire using <br />available fire extinguishers ONLY IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY. <br />Isolate the affected area(s) and order all personnel not involved with the <br />incident to leave the area(s). <br />6. Take care of any injured. Call an ambulance or paramedics. <br />7 <br />F1 <br />V <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />Call the Facility Emergency Coordinator or alternate. <br />Assemble emergency response personnel and give a briefing on the problem <br />and on the required personal protective clothing and equipment to be used. <br />Take appropriate preventive measures to keep fire from spreading: <br />a. Stop processes or operations where necessary. <br />b. Isolate affected containers or equipment. <br />c. Remove unaffected, potentially hazardous materials. <br />Notify supervisor on call. <br />If facility operations are stopped, monitor for leaks, pressure buildup, <br />gas generation, or ruptures in valves, pipes, or other equipment. <br />When the fire department arrives, direct firefighters to the scene of the <br />fire. <br />After fire is extinguished, assess damage and complete Scene -Management <br />Checklist (see Section 8). <br />Isolate damaged area until it is returned to safe working condition. <br />Replace and restock emergency equipment. <br />5-4 <br />
