REID (209) 334-5634 <br /> April 30, 1984 <br /> `� Jnr � <br /> Mr. Bi l l Crooks (1J/JV LO <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board CAL <br /> 3201 "S" Street <br /> Sacramento, CA 95816 <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> SUBJECT: Continuing Nuisances In or Near the City of Lodi <br /> by Holders of NPDES Permits <br /> On April 21 , 1984 the City of Lodi was contacted to investigate <br /> odor complaints from several citizens in north eastern Lodi . <br /> The City's Water/Wastewater Superintendent investigated the odor <br /> complaints and found the following: <br /> ° Time: 6: 30 p.m. <br /> ° Place: Mokelumne Village Subdivision, north of Turner <br /> Road bound by Highway 99 to the east and the Southern <br /> Pacific Railroad Tracks to the west. <br /> Wind movement: From the west moving east. <br /> ° Findings: A local winery at 1 West Turner Road adjacent <br /> to a developing subdivision was found to have odors <br /> eminating from their treatment ponds. (It should be <br /> pointed out that the winery staff is currently working <br /> with the City to develop an economical means to discharge <br /> their waste to the City of Lodi 's Industrial System) The <br /> winery's spreading area on the north side of the Mokelumne <br /> River was also inspected by staff and no odors were found. <br /> An inspection of the holding ponds of Turner Winery at 3750 E. Woodbridge <br /> Road directly north of the City limits was also found to have odors . <br /> Turner Winery however, was not causing odors this evening to our citizens <br /> due to wind direction, but could and have caused odors on days of. little <br /> or no air movement. <br />
