Weber Street <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Well Destruction Work 1 <br /> Lipton Facility <br /> 1400 WaterlooStockton, CalifQmia <br /> Dear Ms. Meays: <br /> IT Corporation (IT) was retained to abandon six groundwater monitoring wells and one-vapor <br /> observation point located at the Lipton (formerly Van den Bergh Foods Company) facility. <br /> The well abandonment is required to conclude the corrective actions at the leaking <br /> underground storage tank (UST) site (Site Code 22073) located at the facility. Following the <br /> well abandonment, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHSIEHD) will issue a closure letter for the site. <br /> Background <br /> Lipton removed a 1000-gallon gasoline tank, a 550-gallon Stoddard (petroleum) solvent tank, <br /> and a 550-gallon diesel tank from a common excavation on May 26, 1984. Subsequent site <br /> characterization and corrective actions requested by PHSIEHD were performed between 1987 <br /> and 1997. These actions culminated in the generation of a Site Closure Report by Lipton that <br /> recommended site closure with no further action for the site. This recommendation was also <br /> made to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) by <br /> PHSIEHD. The recommendation was concurred with by the CVRWQCB, which issued a <br /> letter- of concurrence to PHS/EHD on August 28, 1997. In a letter dated October 1, 1997, <br /> PHSIEHD notified Lipton that a site closure letter would be issued following well destruction <br /> and proper disposal of the drilling wastes. <br /> IT Corporabon is a wholly owned sobsidimy of International Technology Corporabon <br />
