INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION <br /> Ms. Mary Meays 3 October 27, 1997 <br /> All of the wells were completed at the surface with Christy-box or equivalent surface <br /> protection. Each protective cover will be removed, and the well will be either drilled out or <br /> pressure grouted. Following overdrilling and/or pressure grouting, each well will be finished <br /> at the surface to match the current surface conditions. Overdrilling will be performed using a <br /> hollow stem auger drill rig. Well abandonment will be performed in accordance with San <br /> Joaquin County and Department of Water Resources guidelines. <br /> Disposal of Generated Waste <br /> The drill cuttings generated during the field activities will be collected in a 10 cubic yard bin <br /> prior disposal at a Class II landfill. Water that is generated during the field activities will be <br /> contained and discharged to the water treatment system located on the facility. The well <br /> casing from MW-4 and the surface protection for the wells will be disposed as sanitary waste. <br /> Health an Safety <br /> The well abandonment activities will be performed in compliance with the site-specific Health <br /> and Safety Plan, dated November 1994 and the Health and Safety Plan Addendum and Update, <br /> dated August 1995. <br /> Well Abandonment Report <br /> Following completion of the field activities and disposal of the drill cuttings, a letter report <br /> will be submitted to PHS/EHD to document the field activities.
