SCOPE u, dORK FOR REAL ESTATE DIVESTMENI vROJECTS
The proposed scope of work will entail the drilling of three soil borings
and the construction of three ground-water monitoring wells, if ground
water is encountered. The location of the borings is shown on the
attached site plans. Drill cuttings are to be placed on, and covered
with, plastic. Purge water should be containerized in appropriate
55-gallon liquid drums.. Presented below is a detailed outline of the work
to be performed:
1. Notify Underground Services Alert to mark known underground
utilities.
2. Receive all necessary boring/well permits.
3. Drill the first soil boring (as directed by the Ultramar
Project Manager) to 50 feet or until ground water is
encountered. Soil samples are to be collected every 5 feet or
at obvious lithologic contacts.
If no ground wat?r is encountered: stop drilling at 50
feet or when two consecutive clean samples, below 40
feet, (based on PID readings) are obtained.
If around water is encountered_: continue drilling 10
feet into the saturated zone.
4. If ground water is present at 50 feet or less below grade,
construct a 2-inch-diameter monitoring well with 5 feet of
screen above and 10 feet of screen below the saturated zone.
Wells are to be completed as per Ultramar's Guidelines.
5. Drill the remaining two boring locations. If ground water is
present at < 50 feet, construct two additional wells as
described above. If water is > 50 feet, drill the additional
two soil borings to 35 feet or until two consecutive "clean"
soil samples are obtained.
6. Discuss boring logs and soil sample depths (and corresponding
PID readings) with the Ultramar Project Manager in order to
define which samples are to be analyzed and which lab will
perform the analyses.
7. If wells are installed, purge and sample the wells as per
Ultramar's Guidelines.
S. Survey the wells to an arbitrary datum to evaluate
ground-water gradient at the site.
9. Prepare a data package for each site containing a site map,
potentiometric surface map, and soil and ground-water analyses
tables. These data packages must be at Ultramar's Hanford
office by 5:00 P.M. on March 31, 1991.
]0 ---Przpare-draft technical-report- as per-Ultramar's--Guidelines.
A sample report format will be forwarded to you once the
project is awarded. Draft reports are due at Ultramar's
Hanford office by April 15, 1991.
