Two copies of this report are provided to be submitted to San Joaquin Department of Health
Services, attention Mary Meays The two copies of the report should be submitted with a cover
letter provided by Van Den Bergh Foods
On July 14, 1993 BSK personnel purged and sampled the groundwater monitoring well MW-4
The sample failed to meet quality control/quality assurance standards On August 8, 1993 the
well was subsequently resampled
Prior to sampling on August 8, the depth to water in monitoring well MW-4 was measured
utilizing an electric sounding tape The top of the groundwater surface in the well and the
bottom of the well was sampled for visual observations using a clear PVC bailer The
groundwater sample collected was examined for the presence of odors and indications of
petroleum product The well was then purged of at least three well volumes with a bladder
pump Parameters for pH, conductivity, and temperature were measured after removal of each
well volume Consistency of these measured properties indicate that fresh water was being drawn
from the aquifer A groundwater sampling log was maintained for the well (refer to Well Field
Log) The groundwater removed during purging was placed into a 55-gallon DOT 17 E/H drum
and labeled
The groundwater was sampled with a Teflon' point source bailer The samples were placed into
an appropriate sample container with preservatives added and labeled The samples were stored
in an cooler with ice and shipped to the BSK State-certified Analytical Laboratories in Fresno
for chemical testing
Geotechnical Engineering • Engineering Geology •Environmental services•Construction Inspection &Testing •Analytical Testing
