16 4.o Conclusions and Recommendations
' The groundwater at the site flows to the north-northwest. Two distinct potentiometric surfaces
were identified, based on the groundwater elevations measured in three shallow wells and three
deep wells within the unconfined aquifer(Figure 2). A groundwater gradient was calculated
from both the shallow wells (0 012 ft/ft) and the deep wells (0.020 ft/ft).
The water level at the site has dropped by as much as 8.96 feet (MW-1) since May 1996 Such
variation is reported to typically occur during summer throughout the region, and is believed to
be a result of increased use of agricultural wells in the vicinity.
This quarterly sampling event shows small concentrations of TPH as diesel to monitoring wells
MW-3 and MW-4. The remaining momtonng wells did not yield detectable concentrations of
TPH as diesel
rr recommends continued collection of depth to water measurements to observe variations in
groundwater flow direction (if any). Additionally, IT recommends continued monitoring of
groundwater for TPH as diesel in the monitoring wells to observe groundwater quality trends on
the site location for two more consecutive quarters. Upon completion of this sampling program,
the site data will be reviewed to deternune whether closure may be appropriate A
recommendation for closure may be made at that time, contingent upon sampling results.
J
U ZM-18-96/VDBF196-0019 3s 4-1
