1
4.0 Conclusions and Recommendations
The groundwater at the site continues to flow to the south-southwest. Two distinct
potentiometnc surfaces were still identifiable at the site, based on the groundwater elevations
' measured in the six monitoring wells installed within the shallow and deep zones of the
unconfined aquifer (Figure 2). A groundwater gradient was calculated from both the shallow
wells (0.006 ft/ft) and the deep wells (0 002 ftlft). This gradient is typical for groundwater at
this site
The water level at the site has risen b as much as 3.98 feet (MW-1) since February 1996.
Y Y
' This variation is reportedly typical for the entire region, and is believed to be a result of
groundwater recharge of the unconfined aquifer, and reduced use of agricultural wells in the
vicinity.
This quarterly sampling event shows no detectable TPH as diesel concentrations in the
' groundwater at the site. This is the first quarter TPH as diesel was not detectable in any of
the six wells
IT
recommends continued collection of depth to water measurements to observe variations in
' groundwater flow direction (if any). Additionally, IT recommends continued monitoring of
groundwater for TPH as diesel in the monitoring wells to observe groundwater quality trends
' on the site location for three more consecutive quarters. Upon completion of this proposed
sampling program, the site data will be reviewed to determine whether closure may be
appropriate. A recommendation for closure may be made at that time, contingent upon
' sampling results
MZ/07-22-96/VDBFr96-0016 db 4-1
