r <br /> ZO Site Activities <br /> 2,1 Preconstruction Submittals <br /> Prior to the initiation of field activities, a work plan and a site specific health and safety plan <br /> ' were approved by the County. All work was performed m accordance with IT's Standard <br /> Quality Practices. <br /> 2.2 Permitting <br /> Prior to the start of field activities, an excavation permit was procured from the Stockton City <br /> Building Department, and a well installation permit was procured from the County Work <br /> plan approval was obtained from the County registered environmental health specialist <br /> ' (REHS) prior to the start of field work. <br /> ' 2.3 Field Activities <br /> The field activities were implemented between May 1 and May 23, 1995. Specific activities <br /> included: <br /> • Soil Excavation <br /> • Soil Sampling and Characterization <br /> • Vapor Observation Point installation <br /> • Backfillmg and Site Restoration, and <br /> • Soil Disposal. <br /> r <br /> 2.3.1 Soil Excavation <br />' The 1986 tank removal activities resulted in an excavation measuring approximately 17' x <br /> 5' x 14' (length x width x depth) During this field effort, the resulting excavation measured <br /> approximately 35' x 15' x 20' (length x width x depth) The volume of material excavated <br /> totalled approximately 330 cubic yards (Figure 2). <br /> rPrior to breaking ground, the area surrounding the excavation was surveyed by a licensed <br /> geophysical surveyor to detect the presence of underground utilities. In addition, <br /> Underground Services Alert (USA) was notified in order to identify known underground <br /> utilities in the area. The only utility encountered was a previously identified abandoned <br />' natural gas pipeline along the southern edge of the excavation.
