• Periodically verify the integrity of all protective clothing, and • Notify the Project FC if emergency help is needed 1 Entry to or exit from the EZ under the conditions described earlier without a designated partner is prohibited 4.2 Project Specific Practices 4.2.1 Chemical Hazards During on-site activities, all personnel will wear appropriate protective clothing whenever the possibility for contact with acidic preservatives, potentially harmful decontamination agents or contaminated soil or groundwater exists If respiratory protection is required, only NIOSH approved respirators may be worn Disposable respirators are not permitted ' All personnel working in areas where there is a potential for exposure to hazardous substances shall be unformed of the hazards of those substances, the warning signs and symptoms of exposure, and the proper work procedures to be followed Approprnate personal protective equipment shall be used to protect workers against potential exposure to hazardous substances whenever engineering controls, such as ventilation, may not be feasible or effective Absolutely no chewing, eating, drinking, smoking or application of cosmetics shall be permitted in any work area designated as an exclusion zone or where a reasonable potential for exposure to contaminants exists When adding samples to preservative or when using methanol or hexane, personnel shall observe the following precautions.
