The Report describes the <br /> pilot extraction test performed in.August. URS perfoirnad the step-drawdown test in monitoring well <br /> MW-8 to determine,m optimal extraction rate and pollutant concentrations extracted in order to design a <br /> groundwater extraction and treatment system. URS submitted field logs representing data collected from <br /> the pump tests on 24 September, <br /> The Work Plan proposes to convert wells MW-8 and MW-14 from monitoring to extraction wells to <br /> begin extracting groundwater to contain the plume and begin removing and treating growidwater in the <br /> area with the highest concentrations. P1u11ipsConoco will install piezometers to monitor the radii of <br /> influence from the No extraction wells. The Work Plan proposes treating the extracted groundwater <br /> using HiperOxidation (HiPDXTm) with a schedule for start-up and full scale operation-monitoring, The <br /> Work Plan does not include a final destination for the treated effluent pending a full cost analysis for the <br /> permitting. <br /> We concur with the Work Plan as proposed provided that the influent and effluent sampling follows the <br /> sampling schedule proposed for the piezometers. Regional Board staff must receive detailed plans for <br /> the disposal of the treated groundwater prior to system start-up. Based on the schedule in the Work <br /> Plan, by 28 October 2002, please submit the final discharge option for the treated groundwater along <br /> with the appropriate ::enns and fees, if needed.
