The Work Plan proposes a pumping
rate test in monitoring well MW-8 to determine an optimal extraction rate and an estimate of
concentrations of constituents of concern. This information will contribute to the design of a
groundwater extraction and treatment system.
The Work Plan proposes to analyze total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel with silica gel
cleanup (SGCU). SGCU is not part of Method 8015. Phillips must analyze, report, and discuss
all extractable petroleum hydrocarbon detections prior to SGCU.
We concur with the Work Plan provided that the above comment is incorporated. Based on the
schedule provided in the Work Plan, by 13 September 2002,please submit a report detailing the
field activities and results including recommendations for an interim remedial action.
