z� <br /> SEP 2 1992 Working to Restore Nature <br /> 1710 Man StreetL HEALTH <br /> Escalon, CA 95324 �NVIRON{vI�NTA <br /> 1' RMIT/5F_RVIGF_ <br /> Phone (209)838-3507 <br /> FAX (209)838-3509 <br /> August 21, 1992 <br /> I <br /> Mr J M Waldron <br /> Chevron U S A Inc <br /> P.O Box 1392 <br /> Bakersfield, California 93302 <br /> RE Chevron U S A Production/Carnation Plant <br /> 540 North Aurora Way, Stockton, CA <br /> Dear Mr Waldron <br /> This letter updates RESNA Industries Second Quarter 1992 activities at the above referenced site <br /> i <br /> (Figure 1) <br /> Groundwater monitoring and sampling was conducted on lune 16, 1992 by RESNA�personnel <br /> Water level measurements were collected from each monitoring well using a Solinst Water Level <br /> Meter (Model 101) Groundwater monitoring of wells MW1, MW2, and MW3 showed a drop <br /> in the groundwater elevation since last monitoring in February 1992, averaging 0 93 feet <br /> (Attachment 1) Table 1 summarizes groundwater elevation information A groundwater <br /> gradient map was created using the ,lune 16, 1992 data The groundwater gradient is <br /> approximately 0 028 feet/feet or 148 feet/mile in a northeast direction (Figure 2 ) This <br /> groundwater gradient is consistent with previous monitoring rounds <br /> At Chevron U S A 's request, only wells MW1 and MW2 were sampled Pnor to sampling, <br /> 3 to 5 well volumes of water were purged from each well All purged water was pumped into <br /> an onsite baker tank for future disposal Groundwater samples were collected from the wells <br /> after stabilization of pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and temperature The samples were <br /> collected using a dedicated, disposable bailer The samples were sent to state-certified RESNA <br /> Environmental Laboratories in Fremont, California All samples were analyzed for benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) using EPA method 8020/602, total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and diesel (TPHd) using modified EPA method 8015 <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbons and BTEX constituents were not detected in monitoring well MW2 <br /> Groundwater from MW 1 contained detectable low levels of toluene, xylenes and TPHg <br /> • QR072992 MRM <br />
