cho"Vilf-bb
September 24, 1996 TS, SEP 26 Ali 11, 12
Chevron Real Estate
Management Company
Mr. Harlin Knoll A Division of Chevron U.S.A.Inc.
225 Bush Street
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division San Francisco,CA 94104
Environmental Services Division
304 - E. Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
SUBJECT: SESOIL Model Results
540 -N. Aurora Way/ 969 E. Fremont Street
Stockton, California 95202
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Enclosed is the SESOIL Model Results Memorandum dated August 21, 1996 as prepared
by Curt Peck of Chevron Research & Technology Company. The memorandum discusses
the results of the SESOIL Model under the conservative assumptions and input
parameters as discussed and directed by your agency. With the conservative assumptions
and input parameters the model results indicate that benzene detected in soil sample S13-8
at 35' (0.052 ppm benzene) would migrate to the groundwater and result in 3 ppb benzene
concentration. However, the historical groundwater monitoring data between 517191 to
11/17/95 indicates the benzene concentrations have been at or below 1.0 ppb.
Currently all four groundwater monitoring wells on site have indicated benzene
concentrations below 1.0 ppb. The current and historical groundwater concentrations are
less than the modeled SESOIL results and would indicate that the residual soil
concentration in soil sample S13-8 at 35' (0.052 ppm benzene) does not pose a significant
threat to the groundwater beneath the site. Based upon the historical groundwater data, I
would like to request a review for case closure for this site. A response from your agency
by October 9, 1996 would be appreciated.
If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at (415)
894-5137. Thank you.
Sincerely,
vv
Cynz is Wong
Project Engineer
Enclosure
f.l iehF
