Paul Souva, Controller, (209) 466-0131 <br /> LEGAL DESCRIPTION- The property consists of approximately 1 acre, <br /> (APN 135-25-31) as shown on EXHIBIT C <br /> REGIONAL SETTING: <br /> The property is located in the southwestern part of the City of <br /> Stockton, almost directly beneath I-5 The Stockton Deepwater <br /> Channel is approximately one block to the south, near the <br /> terminus of Mormon Slough The area is primarily dedicated to <br /> light manufacturing & varied small to medium sized businesses <br /> Valley Wholesale Drugs is a wholesale distributor of phamaceuti- <br /> cals, there are no manufacturing activities on the property <br /> PLATE I is a portion of a city map of Stockton showing the <br /> location of the site <br /> GEOLOGIC & GEOMORPHIC PROVINCE <br /> The site is located in the southern portion of what is referred <br /> • to as the Sacramento Valley, which is within the geomorphic <br /> province called the Great Valley of California. This large <br /> basin, which contains in excess of 25, 000 of sediments, extends <br /> from Red Bluff on the north to the Transverse Ranges on the <br /> south. The sediments have been derived primarily from erosion of <br /> the Sierra Nevada Batholith to the east, they have been period- <br /> ically reworked and redeposited by the many rivers and streams in <br /> the area. The surface elevation is between 5 ' & 101 , with the <br /> regional gradient to the west at about 5 ' /mile PLATE II is from <br /> a USGS topographic map showing surface features in the area <br /> SOILS CLASSIFICATION <br /> According to the publication issued by the University of Calif . , <br /> Berkeley, in 1952, the surface soils consist of "madeland, " (fill <br /> brought in from other areas . ) The predominent native soil in the <br /> area is Stockton adobe clay, which covers most of this portion of <br /> Stockton Soils encountered during site excavation consisted <br /> primarily of tan to brown clays & silty clays, with some sandy <br /> clay intervals . The same sediments were penetrated during the <br /> placement of the soil borings <br /> DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER <br /> According to maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood <br /> Control District, the water table in this area is about 20 ' below <br /> • ground level .
