Fremont Street
Stockton, California
Project No. 989.2
' October 31, 2002
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report summarizes the monitoring well installation, 3" Quarter 2002 groundwater
' monitoring and GPS surveyor work that took place at 1401 West Freemont Street, Stockton,
California, between July and October of 2002.
' One new deep monitoring well (MW-101; TD of 42 feet) and three new shallow monitoring
wells (MW-7, MW-8 and MW-9; TD of 22 feet) were installed during July and August of
2002. Drill core samples were collected during drilling and subsurface geology was logged
on site. Selected core samples were submitted to Sherwood Labs Corporation for analysis.
' Groundwater level was found to be less the 10 feet logged bgs. Core samples to ed on site reveal
p
the upper 22 feet of the subsurface is comprised of alternating layers of sand and clay. Core
' samples from the deep well shows similaralternating sand and clay layers to 31 feet bgs; a
blue clay layer continues from 31 to 42 feet bgs. The lateral extent of the blue clay layer is
not known, but its thickness suggests that it probably covers the site.
rLaboratory analysis of the groundwater samples collected during the Yd quarter monitoring
event show that trace amounts of BTEX constituents are present in four of the ten
monitoring wells. Two of the ten wells contained low concentrations of TPH-gas. Five of
the ten wells show the presence of MTBE in low concentrations with MW-6 containing the
highest concentration. ETBE, TAME, DIPE, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and EDB were non-detect in
all monitoring wells.
' On October 2, 2002, GTI and Thompson-Hysell Engineers personnel mobilized to the site to
survey the tops of the monitoring wells in accordance to AB2886. The measurements were
used to calculate groundwater elevation, bearing and slope(Table 1).
