s Ec0R <br /> Ms. Victoria McCartney <br /> ARCO 5450 Well Destruction Work Plan <br /> October 23, 2006 <br /> Page 2 <br /> i <br /> Well Destruction - The destruction of the'wells will be supervised by the. BP execution <br /> contractor. A licensed drilling"company will complete the well destruction work following the <br /> California Well Standards bulletin„74-90 Part 'III, Section 19 and 23 and San Joaquin <br /> County Well Standards Section 13.17. <br /> MW-3 will be pressure grouted from total depth to approximately ground surface using neat <br /> cement. After pressure grouting the-upper�five feet of the well casing will be overdrilled. <br /> MW-2 and MW-4 will be destroyed by removing all of the well contents by over drilling the <br /> borehole to total depth, then backfilling the borehole to three feet below surface grade with <br /> neat cement using a tremie pipe system. Groundwater expelled from the well during the <br /> t grouting process must be contained, characterized, and disposed of properly. After the <br /> sealing operation, the excavation shall be back filled with clean native soil. The former <br /> wells will be! capped with appropriate materials to match existing grade. All well <br /> destructions Will be conducted in accordance with the San Joaquin County Well Standards <br /> Section 13.17 concerning monitoring well destruction requirements: <br /> REPORTING <br /> A letter summarizing the well destruction and soil disposal activities will be prepared and <br /> I; submitted -to the RWQCB and San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (SJEHD). The letter will include copies of the well destruction permits. , Submittal of the <br /> report will complete the final requirements of RWQCB to obtain a "No Further Action" <br /> a designation for the site. <br /> SCHEDULE <br /> Permits for destruction of the wells will be submitted to SJEHD under separate cover. The <br /> fieldwork can :be started after permit approval by SJEHD.
