Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RB) Notification
Date Submitted to RB: JULY 11, 1997 Response Date:
RB Staff: Jaynes E. Brathovde Response:
Title: Assoc. Engineering Geologist
VII. Additional Comments, Data, etc.
During piping replacement/update, soil contamination noted and soil samples taken under PHS-EHD oversight. Lab
analyses indicated soil impacted by petroleum. Over-excavation done under approved work plan, Public Participation
notification, and PHS-EHD oversight. Removed visually impacted soil. Post excavation bottom soil sample results reflected I
in "after' column of Section III table above. One monitoring well placed in hottest area as per directive of'PHS-EHD and i
recorded only hit on first groundwater sampling event. Two subsequent groundwater sampling events revealed no TPH-G
11or BT X. Receptor survey revealed 4 distant receptors (closest X1,400 feet northwest)and soil mass calculation indicated
0.008 pounds of soil impacted by Benzene.
This document and the related CASE CLOSURE LETTER,shall be retained by the lead agency as part of the official
site file.
MI/6/97
