Mr Kyle Christie
September 2"), 1996
' 0 Page 2
product dispensers #1 and #2 during the fiber trench replacement Approximately 35 cubic
yards (in place) of soil were removed from the affected area and a sample was collected from
the base of the excavation (approximately 11 feet below grade) Minor hydrocarbons (<0 005
mg/kg benzene and 86 mg/kg TPH-G) were identified in the soil at the base of the excavation
Groundwater was not encountered during the excavation
Field Activities
The fieldwork conducted and supervised by Brown and Caldwell included the sampling,
installation, development and sampling of one groundwater monitoring well (MW-1)
Procedures for soil sampling, well construction, well development, and well sampling were in
accordance with the work plan Figure 2 shows the location of MW-1
Utility Clearance. Prior to drilling, the borehole location was cleared for utilities by
Underground Service Alert
Soil Sampling. On July 30, 1996, a Brown and Caldwell geologist supervised the sampling,
drilling, construction, and development of groundwater monitoring well MW-1 The borehole
drilling, well construction, and well development was performed by Woodward Drilling, Inc
(Woodward) (Califonua C-57 License Number 710079) of Rio Vista, California, using a
truck-mounted drilling ng equipped with 8 -inch-outside-diameter hollow stem augers
Groundwater Monitoring Well Construction and Development. Well construction permit
No 09963 was obtained from the County (Appendix B) The borehole was drilled to a depth of
25 feet below ground surface(bgs) First water was encountered during drilling at approximately
16 feet bgs MW-1 was constructed with 2-inch diameter schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
blank casing and 0 020-inch slotted screen Well construction diagram of MW-1 is included as
Appendix C
The newly constructed well was developed on July 30, 1996 by Woodward and supervised by a
Brown and Caldwell geologist The well was sampled after development by Brown and
Caldwell
Results
The following summarizes the lithology encountered during the drilling of MW-1, results of the
soil samples collected during the dnUmg of the MW-1, and results of the groundwater sample
collected after development Soil and groundwater laboratory data sheets are included in this
report as Appendix D
Use or disclosure of data continued on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this
document
4411UMPORrs WORPr1 1700
I
