SESOIL RESULTS
MTBE Leaching
' Average annual Methyl t-Butyl Ether (MTBE) concentrations in groundwater are
shown on Figure 1 for a 99-year prediction. The predicted maximum average
concentration was 4.4E-7 mg/L (0.00044 µg/L) MTBE in groundwater;
lip essentially zero predicted impact.
SESOIL-84 was used to predict leachate transport. . Average monthly climate
parameters were statistically generated using SESOIL-84 and used for each of
the 99 years of the model runs. Mean monthly precipitation was reduced to 10
percent of the SESOIL-generated value to simulate concrete asphalt cover.
The
average annual groundwater concentrations were calculated using a
modified Summers model in the software program UnSAT Suite Pius by
' Waterloo Hydrogeologic, Inc.
Based on SESOIL-84 calculations using the composite soil profile, soil sample
' results, equilibrium conditions, and assuming a 100 ft2 polygon of residual
contamination, the calculated total MTBE mass input into SESOIL follows:
' MTBE Total Mass Input = 0.17 grams.
I REFERENCES
OCEES. 2004.
