Sit Exmwb n Repot
Nm-
1800 E 8e .d .,Redd,Inc.
IBOp g,Feemoct St.,Sadaow CA
Pmjed Na ISM.00
Flare 5
installation, the impact to groundwater was likely related to drilling activities. During the second
round of sampling (September 13, 1991)three samples were collected and analyzed by three separate
and independent laboratories; FGL Environmental (retained by San Joaquin County); Columbia
Analytical Services (retained by Emcon) and Alpha Environmental, retained by Nor-Cal. Two
laboratories reported no BTEX constituents at or above MDL's; and the laboratory retained by San
Joaquin County reported no BTEX or TPHG at or above MDL's. A third round of sampling,
conducted on January 27, 1992 reported no petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were present at or above
MDL's.
Benzene is the analyte of most concern in our groundwater. Since benzene was not detected during
the September 13, 1991 sampling round in two of three samples and was not detected at or above
MDL's in the January 27, 1992 sampling round RESNA believes that groundwater impact was
related to well installation activities and groundwater is not continuing to be degraded by benzene
or any other petroleum hydrocarbon analyte. Continuing degradation is not probable because
confirmation samples collected from the sidewalls and floor of the excavation indicate that the
impacted soils have been removed. The site is also paved thus mitigating the potential for downward
migration due to leaching of any unidentified residual contamination. No further action is
recommended.
iIf you have any questions or comments please call our office at (209) 838-3507.
Respectfully,
RESNA Industries, Inc.
Lois Frantz
Staff Geologist
Gregory P.
