Sunland Gasoline May 28,2000
2085 Fremont Street, Stockton, California Q Page 2
Work Plan for the Lateral and Vertical Extent W
of Soil and Groundw rter Co;goe
73d'
n
excavation activities. Fipi the locations of the samples collected during the
tank removal event on D1 , 998 and the December 31, 1998 sampling event.
On December 31, 1998 a total of eight (8) soil samples were collected from beneath the
former product piping and dispenser locations by a representative of Precision Enviro-
Tech Analytical Laboratory(Figure 3).
The soil samples submitted for analysis from the vicinity beneath the former UST's,
product piping, and dispenser locations and from the stockpiled soil were analyzed by
EPA method 8015M15030 for gasoline petroleum hydrocarbons, EPA method 8020 for
BTEX, EPA method 8260 for fuel oxygenates (MTBE, TAME, DIPE, ETBE, and TBA),
and EPA method 6010 for total lead.
The results from these samples indicated that petroleum hydrocarbon contamination is
present in the vicinity beneath the former UST's, product piping, and dispenser locations.
Petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was also detected in the stockpiled soil. BTEX and
fuel oxygenate contamination is present in the stockpiled soil and in the vicinity beneath
the former UST's and dispenser locations. Lead was found in the soil samples collected
from the vicinity beneath the former UST's and product piping locations, but at
insignificant levels.
On February 22, 2000, Vag, Inc. in conjunction with Frontier Drilling completed two (2)
vertical soil borings. Boring B-1 was completed to a total depth of 81.5 feet and Boring
B-2 was completed to a depth of 31.5 feet. Soil and groundwater contamination was
shown to be present based on field observations and laboratory analytical data. During
this scope of work, the extent of the contamination, both laterally and vertically, was not
defined.
3.0 Scope of Work
This scope of work was developed to characterize the lateral and vertical extent of the soil
and groundwater contamination associated with the unauthorized release that occurred as
a result of fueling operations located on the subject property.
The work plan provides for the following activities to be completed at 2085 Fremont
Street, Stockton, California:
■ Lateral and Vertical Definition of Soil Contamination: five (5) vertical soil borings to
be completed to a depth of 10' beyond the point at which a properly calibrated field
PID does not detect the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons. WBF believes this
depth will range between 90' and 100' below ground level based upon the data
gathered during the previous scope of work.
