i .
E I
not show the irregularities that are the consequence of
excavation and slumping .
Two composite samples were taken of the spoil piles , one
i
from the east side spoil piles and one from the west side .
I Thesellsamples were taken to FGL with the others . A 60 hour
turn--around time for the sample, data was requested as
authorized by Mr . Platt; however, this was, not achieved .
DRA then took all samples to FOL, at about 5 :125 PM.
TEST RESULTS
E CHART A
I TESTS ON SOIL SAMPLES TAKEN 4/21/92
Units : ug/kg = pPb: mg/kg = PpT
ND = Not detectable at level shown
EPA 8020 : DLR. . 003 mg/kg
5030 : DLR: 1 . 00 mg/kg V
TEST METHODS : BTEX : 8020 - TPH(D).: 5030
Samp . # Benzene Toluene E ' Benzene Xylene TPH(D)
i f5 I t
1 @ 20 ' ND ND ND ND ND
E 2 @ 171 ND ND ND ND ND
3 @ 4ND ND ND ND ND
4 @ 2 0 ' ND ND ND ND ND
5 @ 7 ' ND ND ND ND ND
6 @ 20 ' ND ND ND ND ` 4 . 6
7 @ 20 ' ND ND ND ND 30 . 0
.i SPOIL I SAMPLES
Composites
f3
1 East ND ND ND ND 9 . 6
2 West ND ND ND ND 16 . 0
DISCUSSION OF TEST RESULTS
As can be seen on Table A above',, essentially 'all
E .
contaminated material was excavated. Only a minor amount of
V contamination (TPH-D) was found in Sample # ' s 6 and 7 at the
pit bottom at 20 ' bgl . Application of the LUFT manual
Leaching Potential Analysis (Table 2-2 , page 28 of LUFT) by
WJH derives a score of 48 point's ; which indicates a
guideline of 1000 PPM TPH that 'can be left in place without
3 damaging groundwater . In addition, the geologic conditions
as noted earlier show the area to be primarily clay to about
! 150 ' bgl . Clay is not a positive aquitard but it is an
aquiclude; that is , permeability to liquid flow is low,
5
