LM
San Joaquin Health Services Re: Re-Excavation/Resample Work Plan
March 23, 1992= Page 3 of-3 2150 E. Fremont St. , Stockton, CA
W
We propose to separate the highly contaminated spoil from the
.W remainder of the spoil and stockpile on site away from the excavation
on plastic and cover with same. Having accomplished this, return the
remaining spoil to the excavation, taking care to leave the middle
`M third open. Then start excavating at a point approximately 12 feet
south of the north end of the 10,000 gallon tank location, northerly
16- to a point approximately 12 feet past the southern end of the 12,000
gallon tank location, east and west a distance of 10 feet beyond the
._ existing boundry to a depth of 20 feet. (See attached drawings #2 and
#3. ) The resulting excavation will be approximately 34 feet wide by
34 feet long by 20 feet deep. Estimated amount of spoil removed will
be approximately 700 cubic yards, including the area taken up by the
tanks. At the conclusion of excavating approximately six to eight
soil samples will be taken at appropriate locations inside the pit
area. At least three bottom and four side wall samples three to five
feet up from the bottom. All samples will be analyzed for TPH-D and
BTEX to LOFT specifications. (See drawings #2 and #3. ) All reports,
recommendations, and conclusions will be made and submitted by Wm.
Hunter and Associates.
B. Remediation: After a total amount of spoil is ascertain od, the most
appropriate method of soil disposition or remediation will be made.
Many factors play roles in making this determination. An appropriate
.. number of soil samples will be taken from the spoil , two per every
50 cubic yards removed. All spoil samples will be analyzed for THP-D
and BTEX.
C. Backfill : The best and most economical method of backfill will be
decided upon after the actual excavation is completed, and soil
dispositiop decisions are made.
. 7. Timing: Excavation and sampling can be scheduled to begin within two
weeks upon approval of this work plan. The sample analyses results
will be sent to San Joaquin Health Services/Environmental Health
. Division within ten working days.
8. Health and Safety Plan attached.
