CAMBRIA
Boring Depths Borings SB-4 and SB-6 were drilled to 120 fbg Boring SB-5
was drilled to 88 fbg, and well S-4 was drilled to 61 5 fbg We
intended to drill boring SB-5 to 120 fbg, but the CPT rig could
not drill past dense soil encountered at 88 fbg
Groundwater Depths Groundwater was observed during drilling activities at
approximately 51 5 fbg (Table 1) in S-4 A pore pressure
dissipation test was performed with the CPT equipment in
borings SB-4 and SB-6 This test is used to determine depth to
groundwater in the boring The depth to groundwater in SB-6
was calculated to be approximately 51 5 fbg The test results
for boring SB-4 were inconclusive The pore pressure
dissipation test was not performed in boring SB-5 Therefore,
depth to water data for borings SB-4 and SB-5 are not
available
Sediment Lithology Lrthology encountered while drilling well S-4 generally
. consisted of clay from the surface to approximately 10 fbg,
underlain by silty sand to approximately 35 fbg, underlain by
silt to the total depth explored of 61 5 fbg The CPT boring
lithology generally consisted of silt and clay from the surface
to 15 to 24 fbg, underlain by silty sand and sand to a depth of
approximately 28 to 31 tbg, underlain by silt and clay This
second silt and clay layer extended to a depth of
approximately 69 to 72 fbg, where a coarser-grained unit was
encountered, consisting mostly of silty sand, sand, and
gravelly sand with minor intermittent layers of silt This unit
extended to approximately 86 to 87 fbg Beneath this layer,
silt was encountered to depths of approximately 108 to 109
fbg, where another sand and gravelly sand layer was
encountered This sand and gravelly sand layer extended to
approximately 112 fbg Silt was encountered below to the
total depth explored of 120 fbg
Chemical Analyses: Soil samples from well S-4 and from borings SB-4, SB-5, and
SB-6 were analyzed for TPHg by EPA Method 8015
(modified), BTEX and MTBE by EPA Method 8020
Additionally, selected soil and all groundwater samples were
0797 4
