(GTI), to describe results of groundwater
monitoring at the subject site on October 29, 1993 and January 7, 1993.
During the October site visit seven of the eight monitoring wells were located and gauged. Well
EA-5 was not located. Depth to groundwater was measured and samples were collected from three
of the seven wells. There were no petroleum hydrocarbons detected in wells MW-4, MW-5, and
EA-6. The measured direction of groundwater flow was toward the southwest.
During the January site visit all eight groundwater monitoring wells were located and gauged.
Depth to groundwater was measured and samples were collected from four of the eight wells. The
remaining four wells were dry. There were no petroleum hydrocarbons detected in samples from
wells MW-4, MW-5, EA-5, and EA-6. The measured direction of groundwater flow was toward
the northeast.
These latest results support the contention that there is no hydrocarbon contamination remaining in
groundwater beneath the subject site. The conclusions reached from these data are that no further
action be required and that case closure be considered for this site. To facilitate the evaluation for
case closure, Chevron is preparing a case closure summary that will be submitted for review on or
before April 29, 1994. In the meantime, all further groundwater monitoring has been suspended.
If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached at(510) 842-8695.
Sincerely,
zW,(? /
Brett L.
