Box 2009
Stockton; CA 95201
Re: Former Chevron Station#9-7780 3246 East Fremont Street Stockton CA
Attached groundwater monitoring report(Alton,-6/2/92)
Request for closure
Dear Ms.Meays:
Attached is a report dated June,2, 1992, which was prepared by Chevron's consultant, Alton
Geoscience(Alton),.to describe groundwater monitoring performed at the subject site on May 19,
1992. The monitoring event was requested in letters from San,Joaquin County (SJC) dated
August 30, 1991 (attached) and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB) dated July 30, 1991 (attached). SJC and the.CVRWQCB indicated in these letters
that site closure maybe granted after, completion of,"soil sampling in the former tank pit area and
two rounds of groundwater sampling if no hydrocarbons were detected.
The soil sampling was described in a report prepared by Chevron's consultant, Groundwater
Technology Inc. (GTI), dated_ December 20, 1991. Soil samples were obtained every five feet
from a depth of twenty feet down.to the groundwater table. None of the samples contained
detectable levels'of total purgeable-hydrocarbons in the gasoline range (TPH-Gas) or benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, or xylene (BTEX) with the exception'of the sample at 70 feet which
contained only 0.013 parts-per milliod(ppm) xylene.
Groundwater monitoring on October 18, 1991 and on May 19, 1992 did not detect any TPH-Gas
or BTEX.
In accordance with the.stipulations established by the CVRWQCB and SJC, Chevron believes that
this site should now be closed and Would.appreciate your consideration of this;request. Upon your
concurrence, Chevron will arrange for the proper abandonment of all'the groundwater monitoring
wells at the site. If you have-any questions or comments, I can be reached at(510) 842-8658.
Sincerely,
Clint B_ Rogers
Environmental.Engineer
Site Assessment and Remediation
