The text and attachments within this letter are assembled to
correspond with the guidance provided in Appendix A and its Addendum of the Tri-Regional Board
Staff Recommendations For Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Storage
Tanks (CRWQCB-NCR, SFB, CVR, 1990). Data provided in this document clearly indicates that
hydrocarbon-impacted soil left in place at the site is not a threat to current and potential beneficial
uses to groundwater. In addition, analytical results of groundwater samples,collected since 1988
show no impact to first encountered groundwater beneath the site.
SITE HISTORY
According to Chevron records, the Chevron service station was coristructed;in July 1960 and
I operated four underground storage tanks (USTs). The USTs included one 6,000-gallon regular
leaded, one 5,000-gallon unleaded, and one 2,000-gallon supreme leaded.gasoline tanks, and one
550-gallon waste-oil steel tank. In January 1987, the service station was demolished and the USTs
were removed from the subsurface. Methods and results of UST removal and UST pit sampling are
documented in the Tank Removal Sampling Report (Blaine Tech Services,°1987).
0072clas.rpt
Offices throughout the US.,Canada and Overseas
{
