' ❑E1W GROUN DWATER
❑❑❑ TECHNOLOGY, INC. 1401 Halyard Drive,Suite140,West Sacramento,CA 95691,(916)3724700
FAX(916)372-8781
January 3, 1995
Ms. Mary Ways
San Joaquin County Public Health Services N 195
Environmental Health Division
445 San Joaquin Street ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
P. O. Box 388 PERMIT/SERVICES
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Subject: Request for Site Closure
Chevron Service Station No. 9-7780
3246 East Fremont Street
Stockton, California
GTI Project 02070 0072
Dear Ms. Meays:
Groundwater Technology, Inc. submits this letter as a request for site closure for the former Chevron
service station located at 3246 East Fremont Street in Stockton, California (Attachment 1, Figure 1).
Based on the data provided herein, no further action is required at this time with regard to
environmental activities at the site. The text and attachments within this letter are assembled to
correspond with the guidance provided in Appendix A and its Addendum of the Tri-Regional Board
Staff Recommendations For Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Storage
Tanks (CRWQCB-NCR, SFB, CVR, 1990). Data provided in this document clearly indicates that
hydrocarbon-impacted soil left in place at the site is not a threat to current and potential beneficial
uses to groundwater. In addition, analytical results of groundwater samples collected since 1988
show no impact to first encountered groundwater beneath the site.
SITE HISTORY
According to Chevron records, the Chevron service station was constructed in July 1960 and
operated four underground storage tanks (USTs). The USTs included one 6,000-gallon regular
leaded, one 5,000-gallon unleaded, and one 2,000-gallon supreme leaded gasoline tanks, and one
550-gallon waste-oil steel tank. In January 1987, the service station was demolished and the USTs
were removed from the subsurface. Methods and results of UST removal and UST pit sampling are
documented in the Tank Removal Sampling Report (Blaine Tech Services, 1987).
0072clos.rpt
Offices throughout the U.S.,Canada and Overseas
