The geographic character of the JHS are <br /> located within basins and basin rims. The soils in this association generally consist of moderately well <br /> drained to poorly drained fine textured soils that are moderately deep to a cemented hardpan. The <br /> soils are generally derived from both marine and non-marine environments, and are generally formed <br /> in alluvium derived from mixed rock sources. <br /> 2.3. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND GRADIENT <br /> The estimated depth to ground water at the property is approximately 70 feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg), based on the map entitled Lines Of Equal Depth Of Water Wells-Fall,1993, published by the <br /> San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. The prevailing ground water <br /> flow direction in southeast Stockton is generally toward the northeast, although flow directions may <br /> vary locally and seasonably. <br /> 3.0. PROCEDURES <br /> 3.1. SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work for preliminary site assessment included advancement of'five soil probe borings, <br /> collection of soil samples for laboratory analysis, and preparation of this report. <br /> 3.2. ADVANCEMENT OF SOIL PROBE BORINGS <br /> On 12 May 1997, five soil robe borings P-1 through P-5 were advanced at the site. Soil probe <br /> Y p g ( g ) <br /> borings P-1 and P-2 were advanced vertically to depths of 15 feet bsg near the dispenser island area, <br /> while P-3 through P-5 were advanced to a maximum depth of 35 feet bsg ata an angle of 25 degrees <br /> to penetrate beneath each UST. A description of angles and distances used for:calculating soil sample <br /> depths beneath each UST area is depicted in Figure 3 -Angled Soil Probe Borings. Advancement of <br /> all probe borings was accomplished utilizing AGE's van-mounted Geoprobe 5400, The Geoprobe <br /> was equipped with 1.125-inch diameter probe rods with an attached 2.15-inch diameter soil sampler. <br /> Soil probe boring locations are depicted on Figure 2. <br /> 3.3. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Discrete soil samples were collected at five-foot intervalsbeginning at 10 feet bsg in P-1 and P-2, and <br /> beginning at 15 feet of probe rod length in P-3 through P-5 using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly <br />
