In the
revised work plan, AGE proposes to relocate off-site soil boring P-17 approximately ten to
twenty feet toward the west and advance P-17 on property at 4010 East Fremont Street,
Stockton, California. (Soil boring P-17 was originally labeled P-19 on Figure 2 of the
December work plan approved by the EHD by letter dated January 18, 2008.) AGE also
proposes to move groundwater monitoring well (MW-5) approximately ten to twenty feet
toward the east of the location previously approved by the EHD and install MW-5 on
property at 716 North Oro Street, Stockton, California. Lastly, AGE proposes to advance
soil borings P-15, P-16, and P-17 using a cone penetration test (CPT) drill rig in place of a
hollow stem drill rig.
The EHD approves the advancement of soil boring P-17 on property located at 4010 East
Fremont Street, and the advancement of soil borings P-15, P-16, and P-17 using a CPT drill
rig. However, the EHD does not approve the installation of MW-5 on property located at
716 Oro Street. Groundwater flow direction has generally been toward the southwest at
this site, and the EHD believes relocating MW-5 toward the east will further remove the
monitoring well from being down gradient of MW-4, the well most impacted by 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA). Instead, the EHD recommends that you complete the fieldwork
in two phases by first advancing the three soil borings; data generated from this phase of
the investigation may be used to determine the best location for installing MW-5. The
EHD is returning the check that included the boring permit and inspection fees for
installing MW-5 submitted by AGE. Please submit a permit/inspection fee of$766 to the
EHD for the advancement of P-15 and P-16 on-site, and P-17 off-site, and notify the EHD
at least a week prior to the scheduled work date.
