r
Jim,
I hate to bother you, but i have an'issue that has recently developed at the above site and I'd like
to get your input before I proceed with preparation of a work plan for San Joaquin County Env.
Health (EHD). I have a disgruntled client who has been pushing EHD to close his site over the
past couple years (I'm sure you have 'never heard that before LOL). Last December, EHD wrote I
a letter to my client that they were considering his site for closure, but he needed to perform
vapor intrusion study..Thereafter, in Feb. 2007, AGE submitted a workplan for six shallow soil
borings for collection of vapor samples; three borings around tank pit and three borings in front of
existing building (mini-market), facing the tank pit. I have enclosed a site plan for your review
depicting AGE proposed.soil boring locations (p13 through p1l8). It should be noted that when the
USTs were removed back in 1998_,that the`hot spot'was at tank removal soil samples TI A, T2A
and T3A. Back in 1998, the old tank pit was slightly deepened and enlarged, and replaced with
new tanks.
At our clients request, we met with EHD few weeks ago(M.Lagorio, N.Henderson and
V.McCartney). During the meeting, EHD made statements to Mr. Grewal that AGE's proposal for
six (6) borings might be excessive', and that two (2) borings may be adequate to perform vapor
study. As you can imagine, Mr..Grewal.prefers to only advance 2 borings and has directed me to
do.so. However, I have.concerns that only two sample locations may not be enough to satisfy
RWQCB.. i
{
On the attached site plan, I have included the EHD recd locations (red)to perform the vapor
study, but before I submit a work;plan,'';I wanted to make sure with the you that IF the soil-gas
samples are both clean (i.e ND)for the two EHD- recommended soil boring locations, that the two
locations would satisfy.the RWQCB as a reasonable vapor study. Thanks for your time Jim.-tim
I
Timothy J.
