It is now necessary to plan and execute the II wells installed as art of our site investigation and remedial action, as the destruction of a p y g EHD will not:issue a No Further Action (NFA) letter for this site until the wells have been property destroyed and all onsite waste materials have been removed and properly disposed. The wells are,to be destroyed within 90 days of date of this letter, or current analytical data for groundwater collected quarterly fro h the wells shall be submitted for review until such time that the wells has been properly destroyed. r Please submit a scope of work,proposal that details the. methods and materials to be used to destroy 'the wells. To be issued a,well destruction permit,' the proposal must address the concerns and;requirements of the EHD listed below. • Wells that have .laboratory data from the last sampling event that demonstrate the presence of any contaminants of concern are to be destroyed by removing the contents (well casing, screen, filter pack, and annular seal); the cleared borehole is then to be sealed with neat cement by.pressure grouting from the bottom upward to a depth of three to five feet below surface grade (bsg). . • All wells located within the -area ofknown soil contamination are to be destroyed by removing the contents (well casing, screen, filter pack, and annular seal); the cleared borehole is then to be sealed with neat cement;by pressure grouting from the bottom upward to a depth of three to five feet bsg. I • Wells that have laboratory.data from the last.sarapling event that report non-detectable concentrations of contaminants of concern and with acceptable laboratory detection limits, may be destroyed by pressure grouting while leaving the well casing in place.
