� r r <br /> Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report <br /> GREWAL'S MARKET <br /> 4100 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California <br />' 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the request of Mr. Rick Grewal of Grewal's Market, Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report <br /> (PIER) for 4100 East Fremont Street (the site), Stockton, California. The scope of work included <br /> advancement of four soil probe borings and collection and analysis of soil and ground water samples. <br /> The location of the site and its surroundings are illustrated on Figure 1; major features on the site <br /> and soil probe boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> This investigation was as performed in accordance with guidelines of the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and of the Central Valley Regional <br />' Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites. <br />' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> iIn July 1998, three USTs and the associated fuel dispensers and product piping were removed from <br /> the site. Based on field observations and analytical results of soil samples collected during the tank <br /> removals, the PHS-EHD directed by letter dated 06 August 1998, that a subsurface investigation be <br /> performed at the site to delineate the vertical and horizontal extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impact <br /> of soil. In accordance with PHS-EHD directives, procedures for a subsurface investigation were <br /> presented in Site Investigation TVork Plan, dated 07 August 1998 and approved by.the PHS-EHD <br />' by letter on 18 August 1998. <br /> r • <br /> 1 2.1. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION <br /> The site,is located at the southeast intersection of Fremont Street and Oro Avenue, approximately <br /> 500 feet east of California State Highway 99. The site is located,in a topographically flat area at an <br /> elevation between 25 and 30 feet above mean sea level in eastern Stockton, California (Figure 1). <br /> 1 The site is in the southeast quarter-of.Section.30, Township 2 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo <br /> Base and Meridian (Stockton East Quadrangle, 7.5-Minute USGS Topographic Series, 1968, photo <br /> revised 1987). <br /> The site is presently operated as a fueling station and mini-market.
