Soil sample notations made for identification: 1. S1@7.75' on 6/25/86. 2. 137@11.5' on
11/26/85. 3. S2@11' on 6/25/86. 4. MW1@11.5 on 11/16/94. 5. B8@16.5 on 11/26/85 (background). Eight soil borings
with samples from three were drilled prior to the removal of the tank. Approximately 4 feet of soil was removed following
collection of S1 on 6/25/86. Soil sample S2 was collected on 6/25/86 for confirmation. The additional investigation on
11/16/94 consisted of two soil borings, one of which was converted into MW1, that defined the extent of residual soil
contamination.
IV. Additional Comments, Data, etc.
Mark Smolley, Registered Geologist #4650, with EMCON stated that the fate and transpo t
modeling indicated at the residual 13 cubic yards of contaminated soil dc$ not pose7a
she ' -
- kms roundwater beneath the site. Other contaminants than those li ted above
were detected in the soil sample collected during the 11/16/94 installation of MW1 at 11.5'
and included: 2-chloro-toluene, 4-chloro-toluene, tetrachloroethene (PCE) , chloroform,
trichlorofluoromethane, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, 1,3-dichlorobenzene, 1,1,1-trichloroethene.
However, none was detected in the sample collected at 16.5 during the installation of MW1,
indicating that the residual mass is limited.
This document and the reiated CASE CLOSURE LETTER, Shall e retained y the lead agency as part
of the official site file.
