' The soil analyses show that the petroleum-hydrocarbon-Impacted soil is limited to the
vicinity of boring MW-1 at approximately 11 feet BGS No petroleum hydrocarbons or
VOCs were detected at or below 15 feet BGS in bong MW-1, or in any sample from
boring B-1 Boring B-1 is approximately 25 feet south of boring MW-1, indicating there
is limited lateral extent for the compounds found 1n MW-1 at 11 feet BGS (Figure 2)
' These analytical results, when considered in conjunction with the removal of the oil/water
separator and surrounding soil, indicate there is limited soil impact The results from the
initial sampling in June 1986 are not included in this evaluation These soil samples were
collected from excavated soil which was subsequently disposed of, therefore, these results
were not used in the modeling described in this report
The assessment of the sod and groundwater conditions adjacent to the former separator is
sufficient to evaluate the possible risks and remediation alternatives Boring MW-1 was
placed at the end of the separator where the inlet piping is connected, a common location
' for leaks Therefore, the samples from this boring most likely represent a "worst-case"
condition of the soil in this area
EMCON contracted with a database search firm (Environmental Data Resources [EDR])
to determine whether there are groundwater production wells within a 2,000-foot radius
of the site The information from EDR is presented in Appendix C and shows that there is
only one well within 2,000 feet of the site The well is approximately 1,200 feet west of
the site and is owned by the Big Wheel Mobile Home Park The EDR database did not
contain any additional ,Information for this well
1
1
oilI TJ21RXK00285 DOC-95111c I Rev 0,8/28/95
22074-001 001 1-3
