Confirmation soil sample analysis in 1993 revealed xylenes (6,900 mg/kg) and TPH as
mineral spirits (11,000 mg/kg) between 18 and 22 feet bgs. Methyl tert butyl ether(MtBE) was not included in
the 1993 analytical suite.
On 6 August 2003 in a phone call with Bob Marty, Advanced GeoEnviron mental, Inc. (AGE), I discussed the
status of your site, including fieldwork proposed in the 6 January 2003 Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan,
Former Buffalo Tank Corporation, 5709 East Fremont Street, Stockton, San Joaquin County(Workplan),
submitted on your behalf by AGE. The Workplan proposed one 70 foot deep soil boring north of the former
underground storage tanks(USTs) location. Mr. Marty stated that the fieldwork had been completed, and
ort has not been
petroleum hydrocarbons contamination was found between 20 and 40 feet bgs, but the results report
submitted.
One domestic well is located approximately 40 feet north of the former USTs, and one irrigation well is located
within 200 feet of the site. The domestic well and irrigation well need to be sampled immediately,to determine
whether these sensitive receptors have been impacted by the petroleum hydrocarbons and related fuel
components. Please include the analytical results from the two wells in the report.
By 20 August 2003, please submit the results of your site investigation in a Preliminary Site Assessment.
By 20 September 2003 please submit a workplan for additional investigation of soil and groundwater, to
determine vertical and lateral extent of the contamination.
If you have any questions please contact me at(916)255-3115 or bartonjn,rb5s.swrcb.ca.,ov.
/James L.
