Soil samples collected beneath the USTs showed petroleum hydrocarbon contamination, and the
County requested Buffalo Tank Corporation to submit a plan of work to investigate the extent of this
contamination in January 1999. Since Buffalo Tank Corporation did not comply with the County's directives, the
County referred the site to the Regional Water Quality Control Board for regulatory oversight and enforcement.
In May 2001, we sent a letter to responsible parties listed above requesting a status letter. As of the date of this
letter,we have not received any correspondence regarding this site. Therefore,by 1 October 2002,please
submit a letter to this office documenting current site status.
Failure to comply with this request may subject you to formal enforcement actions including monetary civil
liability. If you have any questions or comments, please call me at(916) 255-3115.
Marty IYartzell,R.G.
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Ms. Sandy Gill, SWRCB Cleanup Fund, Sacramento
Mr.Mark Owens, SWRCB Cleanup Fund, Sacramento
Ms.Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Stockton
California Environmental Protection Agency
01 Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
