FIR
McClelland consultants
November 19, 1990
Project No. 0901-1640
Ogden Environmental Services
10955 John Jay Hopkins Drive
San Diego, California 92121
Attention: Mr. Chris Gable
Groundwater Sampling Report
(October 1990)
Stockton Soil Treatment Facility
Introduction
Presented in this report are the results of groundwater sampling conducted at the Stockton Soil
Treatment facility(Plate 1). A groundwater monitoring program was implemented at the request of Ogden
to meet the requirements set forth in the California Administrative Code (C.A.C.)Title 23,Subchapter 15,
relative to water quality monitoring for classified waste management units. In accordance with the
groundwater monitoring plan and C.A.C. Title 23, Subchapter 15 requirements, this report presents the
results of our groundwater sampling for the month of October.
Background
The existing contaminated stockpile at the site was constructed in October 1988, as part of the
former Tillie Lewis Foods Cannery Site Remediation. The stockpile has previously contained soil
contaminated with#6 fuel oil from the former Tillie Lewis site remediation project. The Stockton Soils
Treatment Facility has been permitted by the Stats of California to accept and treat hydrocarbon
contaminated soil that is not included on the Federal, EPA RCRA list of hazardous wastes and,
additionally is not a listed waste.
McClelland installed and sampled three groundwater monitoring wells at the facility in July
through August 1990 (see Plate 2). Results of the initial sampling were provided in our report dated
September 5, 1990. No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any soil or groundwater samples
collected during the installation of the wells. Trace levels of lead below the State Maximum Contaminant
Level(MCL)were detected in well samples from MW-2 and MW-3. Monthly groundwater sampling was
initiated in September 1990(see report dated October 15, 1990). No petroleum hydrocarbons or lead were
detected in the groundwater samples collected during the September sampling.
McClelland Consultants(West),Inc
2140 Eastman Avenue,Ventura,California 93003
(805)644-5535, FAX (805)642-4791 1641
A member of the Fugro-McClelland group of companies
