Angelica Sandoval Marin [EH]
From : Scott Bittinger [sbittinger@stratusinc.net]
Sent: Thursday, December 19, 2013 7: 07 AM
To : Angelica Sandoval Marin [EH]
Cc: Nuel Henderson [EH]; dbarr@stratusinc. net; 'Gowri'
Subject: RE: 1817 South Fresno Ave (Barnes Trucking)
Attachments : SKMBT_C35313121907440. pdf
I'll have to get back to you on some of the specifics. Initially, it was started up for a few hours and operated long
enough to get the water samples needed to verify proper water disposal. So we had 'down time' in late
November/early December for this, but this was a necessary shut down. Between December 6 and 9, the system
was down. I suspect that it went down due to cold weather, as this could affect the water treatment and flow part
of the system. With the warmer weather, and above freezing overnight conditions, the system has stayed
operational.
About a week ago, we moved a few drop tubes/stingers around to extract from some different wells (see bottom of
attached table 2b for specifics). As the system has operated continuously, we have begun to see improved radius
of influence, evidenced by induced vacuum being observed at several observation wells where it hadn't been
noticed before. In addition , the influent air contaminant concentrations have increased over the past week,
indicating continuing performance improvements.
I ' ll keep you posted when we have the next data set.
Scott
From : Angelica Sandoval Marin [EH] [mailto :amarin@sjcehd .com]
Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2013 12: 52 PM
To: Scott Bittinger
Subject: RE: 1817 South Fresno Ave (Barnes Trucking)
Scott,
Thank you for the update of DPE event. In your email, you indicated that you had some downtime. Can you
clarify how long the downtime was and the reason it was down?
look forward to receiving your report.
Thank you ,
Angelica Sandoval Marin
From : Scott Bittinger [mailto :sbittinger@stratusinc. net]
Sent: Wednesday, December 11, 2013 1 :45 PM
To: Angelica Sandoval Marin [EH] ; Nuel Henderson [EH]
Cc: 'Gowri'; dbarr@stratusinc. net
Subject: 1817 South Fresno Ave (Barnes Trucking)
Good afternoon. I am writing to provide you with a brief summary of the DPE event so far. In general,
there appears to be some improvement regarding the mass extraction rates during this event, when
compared to the spring 2013 data, but in general, the results are similar. Using the most recent data, we
are removing about 2. 5 pounds of GRO per day from the subsurface in the vapor phase. This will likely
increase as water levels drop over time, during a longer operating period (we have had some downtime
that would have resulted in water level recovery and lower mass extraction rates, that appear to be
attributed to cold/freezing water & treatment of water) .
12/1912013
